Tucson, AZ (2/22/2017)

For my last night in Tucson, I knew a good sunset was in order.  Going back to Signal Peak, I took a circular route through the edge of Saguaro National Park and Tucson Mountain Park, finding delicious light on the cacti from the setting sun.  This is why photographers call it the "golden hour".

I was at the top of Signal Peak before the sun went below the horizon and could see the cloud cover was going to make for a great sunset, not only in the west but in the east over the Santa Catalina mountains.

As soon as the sun dipped below the mountains, most people began to leave.  Soon it was only me and a young fellow who rode his bike to the top (tough climb).  He and I discussed the potential for a spectacular sunset, and how the people leaving would miss the best part.  Once the color started, I ran back and forth to various viewpoints to get photos from every direction.

It was a fitting farewell to Tucson as I left the next morning for the Apache Reservation near Globe, AZ.
