Returning to Mount Evans just six weeks after our first visit, it was shocking to see how much the landscape had changed. All the beautiful wildflowers were dead or dying, leaving a cover of colorful leaves. It was like an entirely different place. The most exciting thing for me was an encounter with two Bugatti Veyron cars before the model had even been announced publicly. They were here doing test runs, including on the road to the summit of Mount Evans. Later they were made available for sale at $1 million. Top speed, 250 mph.
There was even more wildlife than before, and most of last year's winter coats were gone, just in time for the coming winter.
