San Rafael Swell, Utah, Part 3 - April 3, 2007 (Re-run)

At the southeastern edge of the San Rafael Swell is an area where the sandstone is obviously different, and the effects of erosion are thousands of unique formations.  When first discovered by Europeans, the strange formations were referred to as "mushroom" hoodoos.  Later, someone began calling them "goblins" and word spread, making the area a local attraction.  In 1964, the state created Goblin Valley State Park to protect the hoodoos while allowing visitors to enjoy the unusual display.
