Prescott, Arizona - February 1 & 2, 2006 (Re-run)

Medical Update: A ten day break between treatments was most welcome and allowed for a bit of recovery from those annoying side effects.  My advanced round of chemotherapy started two days ago and so far side effects aren't too bad, but there is still plenty of time for things to get worse.  This round will continue for twelve weeks, so there will be little reason for updates until we see the results.

Prescott is a nice sized town of approximately 45,000 residents at an elevation of 5400 feet, which leads to a mild climate.  The town dates back to 1881 and has a rich "old West" history, first as a gold and silver mining town, then twice named capital of Arizona for short periods, visited by Doc Holliday and Wyatt Earp, burned to the ground twice, battles with native Yavapai and Apache tribes, and host to the longest running rodeo.

Well known for its granite formations, especially those in and around Watson Lake, Prescott draws quite a few tourists throughout the year.

Wildlife is also plentiful around the lake.  I think this is where I first kindled an interest in bird photography.

Developers of residential housing have certainly taken advantage of the massive granite fields to build fine homes that are totally integrated with the formations.
