Zion N P & Coral Pink Sand Dunes S P, Utah - March 6, 2007 (Re-run)

There are many attractions close enough to Kanab for day trips, including the incomparable Zion National Park.  On this occasion, we didn't go all the way to the main part of Zion, choosing to explore the beautiful sandstone formations on the east side.

On the way back to Kanab, we took the detour that leads to Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park.  The dunes are formed by wind erosion of the colorful sandstone buttes in the area.  The park allows for hiking and use of dune buggies, ATVs, dirt bikes, etc.  You can see tracks in some of the photos, but they don't last long, as the winds are pretty constant.  The park also has a campground, and lots of mule deer residents.

  1. We have similar deer in NJ. Saves a trip to Utah, although the scenery is different.
