Crested Butte, CO - June 28, 2005 (Re-run)

As promised, we returned to Crested Butte to enjoy the prolific wildflower display.  This was about a week before the annual Wildflower Festival, but still a spectacular array of flowers and without the crowds that accompany the festival.  There are about six or eight roads that lead from CB into the surrounding mountains, all of which pass through colorful meadows.  Our travels this day were limited to two of those roads, as there was too little time to do more.

We wanted to go up to Schofield Pass and see the beautiful Emerald Lake.  Unfortunately, the above average snowfall the previous Winter had resulted in avalanche activity that had the road still blocked.  It was most impressive to see the size of some of the trees broken off by the avalanche.
