Glacier National Park, Montana, Part 2 - July 8-12, 2007 (Re-run)

The Many Glacier Hotel sits on the edge of Swiftcurrent Lake, providing great views of the surrounding mountains.  Built in 1915, this hotel offers rustic elegance to guests, as well as access to some of the best hiking, boat tours and wildlife watching one could hope to find anywhere.  The famous "Red Jammer" tour vehicles are available for reaching other areas of the park.  There is another option for lodging nearby, the more modern Swiftcurrent Motel.

Going To The Sun Road is aptly named as it is so steep in places you are looking straight up into the sky.  The main road through the park, many of the iconic features of the park can be accessed via this incredible road.  In July, wildflowers add another dimension to the wonderful scenery.

St. Mary Lake is another opportunity for boat rides, or one can take advantage of scenic hiking along the lake and watch for wildlife.  Wild Goose Island is a favorite spot for photos.
