Crossing Glacier National Park on the Going To The Sun Road is one of the most scenic drives in America. After passing the Continental Divide, the road enters the west side of the park and eventually approaches Lake McDonald and the Lake McDonald Lodge. The river that supplies the lake consists almost entirely of snow melt, thus giving it a brilliant turquoise color. There are stunning views from the road, but even better views can be seen from a trail that runs beside the river and then through a lush forest. Lake McDonald itself is a beauty, and the lodge is similar to a Swiss chalet.
