Springfield, Missouri - September 5-7, 2005

Medical Update: While I'm still experiencing unpleasant side effects from radiation treatments, I don't want to complain too much since so many have endured much, much worse.  I'm just pleased to have eighteen treatments behind me and only seven to go.  The trips to Tucson are annoying, with frequent traffic jams due to terrible accidents.  Still, I'm thankful not to be the cause of a traffic jam and I feel for the folks whose lives have been disrupted by involvement in an accident.

We left Colorado headed home to Florida, but spent a few days in Springfield, MO to visit some of the springs and old mills located near there.  We also toured the original Bass Pro Shop there, known as the "Grandaddy of All Outdoor Stores".  This amazing place offers 500,000 square feet of shopping fun, drawing over 4,000,000 customers/visitors each year.

It was also fun to observe a Civil War Battle re-enactment.

There are numerous beautiful springs and historic mills within easy driving distance from Springfield, and we saw quite a few of them.
