Sedona, Arizona, Part 5 - February 5 & 11, 2006 (Re-run)

Several state parks in or near Sedona have been created to showcase some of the colorful formations, and especially where Oak Creek flows through.  One of the iconic views from Sedona is Cathedral Rock, bathed in golden light from the setting sun, reflected in the water at Oak Creek Crossing State Park.  We stopped there twice to make sure we had good conditions.

Slide Rock State Park is designed to get people into the creek to enjoy the adventure of being carried over the slick rock by the creek's current.  We were there early in the day, before lots of people might have been playing in the water.

Among the many hiking trails in the surrounding forest, several lead to spectacular formations such as arches.  Vultee Arch and Devil's Bridge were two that we hiked to.  With a steep climb, it's possible to walk across these massive formations.

One of the best ways to see the back country is to take a Jeep tour.  We chose the world famous Pink Jeeps for our adventure.  They take passengers over rough trails designed to provide a bumpy, even scary ride at times.
