Rocky Mountain National Park, Part 2 - July 20, 2005 (Re-run)

In addition to the main road through the park, Rocky Mountain National Park has several "side roads" that should not be missed.  One of the most scenic drives is the 8 mile long road to Bear Lake.  The lake is such a popular spot, the parking lot fills early.  This was no problem for us, however, as we made sure to arrive before sunrise.  An early start makes it possible to catch first light on Hallett Peak and other iconic scenes with strong, golden light.

The lake is about a half mile from the parking lot, then there's a .8 mile trail around Bear Lake, then a 3.6 mile hike that passes Nymph Lake, Dream Lake and Emerald Lake, plus several nice waterfalls along the way.
