Rocky Mountain National Park, Part 4 - July 22 & 23, 2005 (Re-run)

The road to Bear Lake has much more to offer than the lake at the end of the road and the trail to Dream Lake.  Numerous trails into the mountains or to beautiful lakes originate on Bear Lake Road.  One of the easier hikes is a loop trail that goes around Sprague Lake.  Just under a mile and quite level, this trail provides great views of the lake and the surrounding mountains.

Glacier Creek runs alongside the highway for some distance, displaying many cascades and small waterfalls along the way.

The term park is used in this region to describe a large open area, and there are quite a few of these in RMNP.  Moraine Park is located on Bear Lake Road and has the added attraction of having Big Thompson River run through it.

Next we took a day out of the park to visit some of the nearby cities, such as Boulder and Golden, as well as the famous Red Rocks Amphitheater.
