Although we had made brief visits to CO before, this trip was special as the first time we fully explored the state, and because several family members joined us throughout the Summer. We were in and out of the state several times that year. This particular visit started with a tour of the Trail of Legends in south-central Colorado. This 82 mile long scenic byway goes through the Spanish Peaks and showcases beautiful mountains, streams, lakes, wildflowers and quaint little villages. A few historical homes, churches and other structures can be found along the trail. There was a lot of volcanic activity in this area millions of years ago, leaving behind some impressive dykes and other formations.
