Keeping an eye on the clouds, I waited until just before time for sunset, then drove over to Hunter Wash. Not only did I think this area would look good with the late sunlight, I felt much better being close to the LRJ in case the storm should turn toward me. Even before the sunset began, the strong light was highlighting the hoodoos against the dark clouds.
Soon the sun was going below the horizon and producing nice color. As it got lower, the storm clouds began to take on the red color I had hoped for. In the end, I thought it was one of the best sunsets I had seen during my time here.
What a nice end to my visit! The next day's sunrise was a dud, as were most of them during my five days. Still, I felt good about my time here, and had little to regret. I have to admit, it felt good when I drove to Farmington and checked into Mom and Pop's RV Park for a couple days to rest up, re-charge my batteries and dump my waste tanks.
that is a very dramatic place - we have had some storms go thru here that ended up going your way -
ReplyDeleteThanks, but could you send a few in a different direction?
DeleteThe storm clouds made an amazingly beautiful backdrop!
