Tuba City & Page, AZ (3/11/2017)

After taking extra time at Grand Falls, we decided to stop in Tuba City rather than continue on to Page.  Besides, I wanted Pam to see Coalmine Canyon, and I wanted to see it at sunrise.  We were up early the next day, had a quick breakfast and started the fifteen mile drive.  Years since being there, I wasn't sure I would find the landmarks to the "road" that leads to the canyon overlook.  However, we found the road and turned into it just as the color developed on the horizon.  Not the greatest sunrise, but worth getting up for.  And the light on the canyon's colorful formations after the sun rose above the horizon was excellent.  We enjoyed the experience for several hours, driving to several overlooks.  I recorded some of the drive, but just haven't had the time to edit it.  I promise to do that and let you know when it's up on YouTube.

After driving to Page and getting settled into the campground there, we made a quick stop at Wahweap Overlook, getting views of a small part of Lake Powell and the marina, with Navajo Mountain visible in the distance.

Later, we made the hike to Horseshoe Bend, joining hundreds of others for sunset.  Like everything else out here, there has been a tremendous increase in popularity.  However, this place is huge and can accommodate a large crowd.  With a little patience, I was able to get my favorite spot on the rim.

Hiking back to the LRJ in the dark, we stopped to catch our breath and get a shot of the full moon behind wispy clouds, and the lights of Page.
