Glacier National Park, Montana, Part 6 - July 8-12, 2007 (Re-run)

Most people who visit Glacier N P stay on the Going To The Sun Road, and that's definitely the best approach to enjoying the basics of the park, especially for a short visit.  However, those people don't realize how much of it they have missed.  One of the under-visited sections is a valley called "Two Medicine" by the Blackfeet people.  We always make a point of visiting this area because of its great scenery and fun hikes.

The first waterfall you see is called Running Eagle, named for one of the tribe's greatest warriors, who happened to be a woman.  The unusual feature of this waterfall is its two tiers of water flow, but only when water levels are high.  This year, there wasn't enough water to flow through the top tier, but you can see where the water would emerge from a crack above the lower level.
