Moab, Utah, Part 4 - April 19, 2007 (Re-run)

Arches National Park has more than 2000 natural arches spread over 77,000 acres, the highest density in the world.  In addition, other amazing rock formations and hiking trails draw nearly 2 million visitors each year, mostly during the summer season.  As a result of crowds trying to enter the park at the same time, a reservation system has recently been implemented.

On this visit, I wanted to hike a trail that starts in Devil's Garden and goes to Double O Arch.  This proved to be an interesting hike, with side trails to various other arches and an optional return over a "primitive" trail.  The most interesting part was walking on sandstone fins with severe drop offs.  One of the arches I saw via a side trail actually collapsed a few months after I was there.  You never know.
