Northern Nevada, Part 3 - May 6 thru 14, 2007 (Re-run)

A side trip took us to Squaw Valley, California, site of the 1960 Winter Olympics and a very popular ski resort.

In Truckee, CA, we took time to visit Donner Pass, where a famous tragedy occurred in 1846.  The Donner Party of pioneers got caught in a blizzard in which all but 45 of 81 members perished, and survivors resorted to cannibalism.

Virginia City, NV is famous for one of America's richest silver strikes, the Comstock Lode.  Today it's a popular tourist destination that showcases the mines and the Victorian style architecture from the 1870s.
